School Supply & Forms Pick-Up
As you know, we love our parents and visitors here at GPS. Unfortunately, until further notice, no parents, guardians, volunteers, or mentors will be allowed inside the school, as directed by Floyd County Schools, to maximize safety and social distancing protocols. The only people allowed in our buildings will be school system employees, students, and essential business-related workers. We know how disappointing it will be not to be able to walk children to class on the first day of school so we plan to take First Day of School pictures of each child that teachers will send to parents.
In preparation for the first day of school, we are going to do a drive through for every grade level to drop off school supplies (link to school supply lists) and to pick up car passes, bookbag tags, and paperwork. This will provide an opportunity for parents to deliver supplies so students will not struggle to carry them in on the first day of school. Minimal paperwork will need to be filled out and returned in students’ bookbags on the first day of school. Bookbag tags will be provided that include each student’s name, grade, and teacher. Please attach these tags to your child’s bookbag with the provided zip tie before the first day of school to assist us in helping your child to his/her classroom upon arrival.
The School Supply Drop-Off and Forms Pick-Up times will be:
Kindergarten - August 6th from 8:00-10:00 am
All PreK, Harvey, Herrin, Phillips, Pinkard, Smithberger, and Woodring classes - August 6th from 10:00 - 11:00 am
First Grade - August 10th from 1:30-3:30
Second Grade - August 10th from 8:00-10:00 am
Additional Drop off time for all grade levels - August 10th from 5:00-6:00 pm
Please write your child’s name on all school supplies.
Re-Opening information is coming soon. Be sure to check our website frequently.
School supply lists are posted to our website. You can view them under the Academics page.
